Night Reading Assignment 3

Quote:  "At the place of assembly, surrounded by the electrified barbed wire, thousands of silent Jews gathered, their faces stricken" (Wiesel 73).

Analysis: The word stricken means deeply affected, as with grief, fear, or other emotions. I love how they use this work to show how the so called "prisoners" were so scared and fulled with sorrow. They are afraid of what God, if they still believe, will lead them to next.

Quote: "It gave me orders, and I automatically obeyed them. I hated it.  Whenever I dreamed of a better world, I could only imagine a universe with no bells. "

Analysis: I especially like that the author says, " Whenever I dreamed of a better world.... " . It shows how the boy usually dreams of a better world.  And escaping a place where he would freely be able to be a kid again and not have to be afraid of anything and everything he does. The paragraph puts so much stress on how hard it was to live during this time. And even the smallest things can make you so scared. No matter how much they wanted to get out of there, they just had to push through to the next day.

Night Quote Analysis Assignment 2

QUOTE: "The cherished objects we had brought with us thus far were left behund in the train, and with them, at last, our illusions" (Wiesel 38).
ANALYSIS: This quote is uses word that can bring mixed emotions. Especially, when the author uses the word, " illusions".  It is bringing in feelings that they were giving up.  Also, showing that they don't think they will ever see those items again.
QUOTE: "Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget the little faces of the children, whose bodies I saw turned into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky" (Wiesel 43).
ANALYSIS: Eliezer is beginning to realize the place he really is just like Moche the Beadle said in his stories. Eliezer also feels deep down sorrow and sadness for all those innocent children who died for something that wasn't really wrong at all.

Night Quote Analysis Assignment

Section 1 &2 ( pages 13-37 )
1. "And when the finished their work, the Gestapo began theirs. Without passion, without haste, they slaughtered their prisoners" (Wiesel 16).
ANALYSIS: (#3) This quote uses a lot of strong words that relate to the main theme of the story. For example, the words haste and slaughtered brings powerful meanings. The author is trying to show how hateful the guards were to all the prisoners. And how hard is was back then to be Jewish.

2. "It was from that moment that I began to hate them, and my hate is still the only link between us today.  They were out first oppressors.  They were the first of the faces of hell and death" (Wiesel 28/29)
ANALYSIS: (#1) This quote shows how all the prisoners felt toward the guards and police. They describe them almost as devils. Especially when they say, "They were the first of the faces of hell and death" (Wiesel 29).  It showed how much the people felt hatred to all of them for doing this to an innocent group of people with a different religion.

Romeo & Juliet

Juliet's balcony and the lovers' terrace is one of the most romantic places in the world.  It seems to live there the atmosphere and the passion of Romeo and Juliet.  This place is also a part of the setting of one of the most important Shakespear's plays.  Another interesting thing to do here is to engrave your name on the Lovers' Terrace to be part of Verona History.

The walls of house are all " decorated " with graffiti and love notes.  The tradition says that everyone who visits the house should leave something for Juliet.  So the house is packed with love notes, small jewelery, and heart shaped chewing gum.  And Juliet's statue is also a must see. In ancient stories it's good luck for love if you touch her right breast.

A True Listner?

One of the situtaions in Mice and Men where a charecters seeks out someone who they confide in is when Lennie confides George.  George keeps the secret of when Lennie touches the girl in the red dress. If george would of told everyone Lennie could have been in a big trouble.  Lennie has to listen and trust George with his secret.
What makes up a good listener?  I think it is someone who acually listens to your problems and doesn't judge you.  Also, someone who will understand what you are going through. They don't bring up their own problems.  I have trusted some of my friends before with my secrets, but sometimes they can not keep them.  It reminds me to not trust them again.  I have lots of friends who are really good listeners also. They listen and acually care about my problems I am telling them about.  They also don't rudely interupt or try to change the subject.
I have confided with my friends before.  Everyone has probably have done it.  There isn't a problem trying to handle their trust.  Most of the secrets come out if you are gossiping.  Gossiping is when you talk and give information about someone even though it may or may not be true.  At the most part I trust my friends and they trust me back.

Perfect World

When people think of a perfect world some think fame and fortune.  But, in reality that's not all life is about.  It's about being together with your family.  Family meansin the dictionary,  a basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not.

Also, a world with no judgement.  But the truth is no matter how bad we would want that to happen it will never come true.  Everyone has their own opinion.  And some people don't like being the same.

I now in my belief no one should be judged by their race, gender, religion, how rich or poor you are, and how you look.  Everyone should be treated the same way. Many people are judged everyday.
